Robotics

Web Safety

Burncoat Middle School students have taken a series of internet safety courses through the i-safe program.  Through class discussions, Power Point presentations, activities and videos, students explored the topics of Online Predators, Intellectual Property, and Cyber Bullying.  They have added new tools to their already solid knowledge of internet safety.

"Get into the ACT" program
Starting Friday, November 9, all BMS student will be participating in the "Get into the ACT" program, designed to raise awareness for students regarding the need to get adults involved in some situations.  The program includes a video, as well as discussion which will help students identify concerns for themselves and friends, and supports them in reaching out to adults for assistance.  Sometimes students feel pressure to kept secrets for friends, and this program will help them develop awareness of which secrets shouldn't be kept.  If you would like more information, feel free to contact Maura Mahoney, School Adjustment Counselor at 774-248-2575.

Instructional Focus

All BMS students will be able to identify the basic facts and main ideas in text and use them as the basis for interpretation. Students will also be able to write with a clear focus, coherent organization and sufficient detail.
